My PhD, the result of a collaboration between the Centre for the Study of the Networked Image, London South Bank University and Ben Uri Gallery, involved the detailed study of the twentieth century collections held by both participating institutions and resulted in a new and interdisciplinary methodological approach to the study of artists, collecting institutions and collections.
I conducted archival work in the Tate Archives, Tate Britain, London as part of a short term research project with ANU, Canberra, Australia.
I am currently working with contemporary Czech-born artist Tereza Bušková on a new socially engaged, multidisciplinary community art project entitled Mothers without Hands designed to raise awarness of the need to support women who have experienced physical, sexual and domestic violence. Thus far we have received funding from Walsall Council (Domestic Abuse and Integration Departments) and Birmingham Centre for Arts Therapies and support from Creative Black Country to run three series of creative workshops for women living in Walsall and Sutton Coldfield.
I am currently working with DOR-Romanian Diaspora CIC conducting research and contributing to Cartea de Vineri/Friday Book Club, a programme of weekly posts and monthly live interviews with authors which is now in its fourth year.
